Becoming a member...

Great South Bay Quilters has a limited membership of 60 individuals. Yearly membership fee is $25, payable at the first meeting in September. In order to become a member, interested quilters can attend one of our meetings to sign up. If the membership is at capacity, interested persons must place their name on a waiting list available at the membership sign in desk at every meeting, and will be listed as 'guest' until a space becomes available. Guests may attend their first meeting for free, and then pay a fee of $3.00 for each additional meeting attended. After signing in, the $3.00 fee is to be paid to the treasurer at the start of each meeting. Guests may check their status on the waiting list with the Membership Chair at the beginning of each meeting.

Maintaining membership...

Each member of Great South Bay Quilters is required to attend a minimum number of 5 meetings per year. In addition, dues for the year are $25, payable at the first yearly meeting in September. Members are also required to create either a lap quilt, veteran quilt, or baby quilt as part of their community service requirement. Workshops are held on both the lap and baby quilts during the year, or, if the member prefers, a quilt made outside of these workshops is also acceptable. Quilts must be submitted before the end of the year (June). Please click here for more information on these workshops. As the success of the Guild and its activities are reliant on its individuals' participation, all members are strongly encouraged to take an active role by volunteering to serve as officers and/or chairs of Guild committees.

If at any time a member is unable to fulfill any of these requirements, the member should inform the President and special exemptions can be granted (due to personal or family illness, other extenuating circumstances, etc.)
